On 7 September 2014, a Saudi security force arrested the Shiite youth 'Sayyid Mohammad Taher al-Shemimi', 19 years, from Awwamiyah town, the son of the Shiite cleric “Sayyid Mohammad Taher al-Shemimi” in one of Dammam’s streets without a warrant.
Al-Shemimi was arrested in 2012, by a security force at the Khafji check-point on the Saudi Kuwaiti frontier, when he was returning from Bahrain. He was released after three months of imprisonment with inability to control body movements and lost the ability to talk.
