Information Ministers of Islamic Countries, have gathered under one roof in the Iranian Capital, Tehran.
Information and communication ministers from the 57 member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have participated in this event. Media Convergence for Peace and Calm in the Islamic World is chosen as the theme of this round of conference.
This 10th session of ICIM focused on a number of key issues in the field of information, including the role of media in supporting Palestinian cause, by exposing the Israeli atrocities against Palestinian people and Tel Aviv's attempts to Judaize Jerusalem al-Quds.
The participants of the event discussed pressing matters in the Islamic world and also the attempts of some media channels on promoting Islamophobia.
They believed that press-generated myths about Islam that fuel misunderstanding and feed prejudice must be utterly rejected and that is made possible by a more united approach from all the media in the Islamic world to counter them. Information-related action in cooperation with information institutions in member states and international information institutions were also at the core of discussions, to face up to the dangers of extremism and Islamophobia.
Participants also put forward the idea of the promotion of the OIC information role in pioneering issues of cultural exchange, development and peace.
